When owners John and Mary Smith first started out, their passion for interior design and quality craftsmanship drove them to travel the world in search of the most stunning and unique lighting pieces. After visiting villages in India, family-run workshops in Spain, and crystal mines in the Czech Republic, they were inspired to start their own chandelier company that fused modern design with old-world techniques.

Our Story

Wellmet® was born out of our founders’ deep appreciation for the art of lighting design and quality craftsmanship. After backpacking across Europe and Asia for inspiration, John and Mary were determined to start a business that celebrates both cutting-edge design and old-world techniques.

They believed that a light fixture should not just illuminate a space, but elevate it. It should bring warmth, elegance, and character to every room. And it should be crafted to last for generations.

With these ideals in mind, the couple began working directly with artisan workshops around the world that share their passion for handmade lighting. From India to Spain to the Czech Republic, they visited metal casters, glass blowers, crystal cutters, and other specialists to source the perfect materials and techniques.

After collecting unique pieces from their travels, John and Mary launched the first Wellmet® catalog in 2015 showcasing their curated selection. It featured bohemian crystal chandeliers, vintage-inspired bronze sconces, and custom lighting designs made just for Wellmet®.

Word quickly spread about these stunning and heirloom-quality light fixtures. As demand grew, so did the Wellmet® team. We expanded our workshop network to partners in Italy, China, Mexico, and beyond. Our catalog grew from a dozen offerings to over 200. And our headquarters moved from John and Mary’s basement to a 20,000 square-foot warehouse.
